EMILY RAY-PORTER GROUP   X   DESIGNERS WE LOVE

Condo Interior in Dallas

I’m thrilled to present the latest edition of our Designers We Love series featuring Javier Burkle, the talented owner and principal designer behind Burkle Creative. Based in Dallas, Javier’s work spans residential and commercial projects across the U.S. and Mexico — each one a reflection of his creativity, sophistication, and heart. I’ve had the joy of collaborating with him through my clients and have seen firsthand how he transforms spaces into truly memorable environments. Read on to see how he transformed my client's home and why he’s a designer we truly love!

Aesthetic

How would you describe your signature style?
"I am originally from Mexico City, so my interiors are internationally inspired. Each space exudes a warm sophistication and timeless elegance. Think layers of collected items, both new and old, creating purpose from beauty and building a curated aesthetic that feels both familiar and unexpected." - Javier

Inspiration

Where do you draw your inspiration?
"Travel. Always travel. I love to source pieces for not only my clients but my home as well when I travel the world. My camera roll is filled with inspiration including textures, colors, furniture, tablescapes, art, plants, meals, clothing… I could go on and on." - Javier

Defining Beauty

In your opinion, what makes a room or space truly beautiful?
"I think a space is beautiful when it has a purpose. The architect Frank Lloyd Wright believed not only that form follows function but that they should be one, joined in a spiritual union. I believe the same, the design of a room should create an emotion when it is being used for the purpose it is intended. That’s always my goal." - Javier

Trends

What current trends are you seeing in your field?
"Right now I am seeing the use of materials that have more texture, more movement, and more color. Gone are the days of neutral tones and flat surfaces. Clients (and designers) want to show off their individualism and are embracing the “more is more” motto." - Javier

Local Haunts

What's your favorite spot in Dallas?
"My friends and colleagues know if you need to find me I am most likely at Café Pacific. I’m usually eating the wedge salad (pro tip, get it chopped) paired with a side of sweet potato fries (because balance) and washing it all down with a martini, slightly dirty, bruised, with blue cheese olives. OH, and a pecan ball… always a pecan ball." - Javier
