My Take on The Metropolitan

The Metropolitan started life in 1974 as one of the tallest office towers in Downtown Dallas at the time. That's back when Downtown was a ghost town at night and weekends as all the workers trudged back to the suburbs at the end of the day. Well, that's changed and condo developers noticed the trend was shifting in the early 2000's so they made the audacious plan to convert this office tower to an amenity-rich condo tower. They even cut balconies out of the facade so that every unit here could have some outdoor space. Many conversions don't make the effort to do that (I'm looking at you 1505 Elm) so it's nice they made the effort.
This is not a luxury building, and there are a LOT of condos here so you'll be sharing amenities and services with your neighbors often. It's an investor-friendly building so there are a lot of renters here too. The amenities are nice though, and include a rooftop pool with water features, fitness center, resident lounge, 24/7 front desk concierge, and secure garage parking on site. It's a pet friendly building and there are green spaces nearby for walking dogs. I guarantee you the WalkScore wasn't 94 when it was built, but the area around it has really taken off and there's quite a bit to do within walking distance. This building was a catalyst for all that development and it does seem to have paid off, not just for the developers but for all downtown residents. The more property owners we have downtown with a vested interest in the area the better it will get.
